Adam Carolla, you could use some humor.
See that’s exactly why “sorry” is being overused.
Adam Carolla, you don’t just say that Pacquiao has brain damage and Philippines is a nation of whores and expect to just get away with it. When was the last time you read the how-to-get-famous-by-being-an-idiot guide? Apparently you are a master. If your little podcast isnt doing you any good, try to find something else useful to do. Seriously, this whole bashing-out-on-a-legend act isnt obviously the best attempt to get noticed. This is getting you nowhere but the dummies section.
Okay, Im not a fan of Pacquiao running for office because I reckon there’s a lot of more productive things he can do rather than joining the circus. But to say that the guy has brain damage and that Philippines is a nation of whores on top of that is just plain demoralizing.
I feel sorry for you because you had to stoop down to that level just to get noticed. Talent and a bit of humor would have been useful you know, Oh I am sorry, you call that humor? Too bad I’d take a good’ol knock-knock joke instead of that anytime.

She's afraid, very afraid.
Theres The Rub
By Conrado de Quiros

ARROYO IS.
The police would not be assiduous in preventing Danny Lim from being seen and heard without express orders from their generals. Their generals would not be assiduous in ordering them to prevent him from being seen and heard without express orders from their commander in chief. And their commander in chief would not be assiduous in expressly ordering them to not make him be seen or heard if she were not afraid.
That’s what they did to Danny Lim last Thursday. They prevented him from being seen or heard. He had already been issued a day pass by Judge Elmo Alameda the day before to allow him to attend a UP forum where he was to read a paper entitled, “The Military and Social Change.” Things seemed to be going well until Thursday morning when his jailers said they couldn’t release him without express orders from their superiors, and their superiors were nowhere to be found.
Later they would say that they could not release him because they could not provide him security in UP. A stupid excuse given that all they had to do to secure him was to vow on the graves of their mothers and children, or if those are of little value to them, on pain of losing their tong and karaoke privileges, that they would do him no harm while he was outside of jail. His only source of insecurity is them.
It’s easy to see why GMA fears Lim. Lim is one of the few people, and one of the even fewer generals, who act on principle. That is a lethal combination as far as she is concerned, having principle and acting. This country has no lack of principled people who do not act. And this country has no lack of unprincipled people who do act—many of them having gotten to the highest rungs of the civilian and military totem pole by being and doing just that.
Lim it was who led the withdrawal of support from GMA in 2006, which was thwarted because Hermogenes Esperon turned against his fellows and went to the Dark Side. Well, he had precious little choice, he was being implicated in the 2004 cheating in Mindanao too. It was what got Lim jailed the first time. He it was as well who helped mount the Peninsula mutiny in 2007, for which he faced added rebellion charges.
I’ve said it before: When—or if—a new president emerges, only Antonio Trillanes will need to be pardoned, Lim won’t. Trillanes led his mutiny, the Oakwood one, when GMA was still a legitimate president, made so by a fiat of Juan de la Cruz etched in tablet at Edsa. Lim led his withdrawal of support from and mutiny against GMA when GMA was no longer president, when she was so only by a nod of Virgilio Garcillano to her request of “winning by one million votes,” etched in their respective accents. An act to overthrow a legitimate government is called a coup. An act to overthrow an illegitimate one is called justice.
All that will become patent when GMA is haled to court once she steps out of Malacañang. Which brings us to the core of why GMA fears Lim.
Because Lim is the only non-presidential candidate who has made the very presidential pronouncement that once voted into power, he will exert himself to see that justice is done. Specifically to see that GMA is brought to court to answer for her sins. “This government must be made accountable for the transgressions it committed against the people.”
That is the heart of the matter. None of the promises of the candidates, presidential or not, senatorial or not, nuisance or not, to make this country better means anything without this. This is the sine qua non, the underlying premise, the necessary precondition for doing anything to make things better.
You do not punish someone for bribing the generals to death, or to untold wealth, and making the military exceedingly politically partisan, the practice of bribing generals and making the military partisan will continue. You do not punish someone for making warlords and private armies a feature of the landscape, the warlords and private armies will become permanent. You do not punish someone for lying barefacedly to the people about what she would do and not do, for cheating the Filipinos of their future, for stealing their wealth, their hope and even their lives, lying, cheating and stealing will riot till kingdom come.
You do not punish someone for stealing the vote, the vote will be stolen again and again.
For vowing to do this, and for having a record of doing what he says, Danny Lim was prevented by the cops, by their generals and by their commander in thief from being seen and heard last Thursday in UP and elsewhere.
What they forgot, or never learned to begin with, is that when you silence truth, truth has a way of thundering forth even more loudly like a blast of trumpets before the walls of tyranny. What they overlooked, or never saw to begin with, is that when you tape, or gag, or staple the mouth of a person telling the truth, he manages to speak even more loudly, his voice echoing in the mouths of everyone around him like the booming of television sets collectively tuned in to his oratory. What they ignore, living as they do only in the present and not realizing that their future is just their past catching up with them like an avenging angel, is that when you make a good man, a just man, an innocent man, not seen or heard, he blazes forth like tongues of fire.
Let’s make damn sure he does. I leave you to your beliefs, I leave you to your choices in these elections. But for God’s sake, know there is a candidate named Danny Lim who is running for senator. For democracy’s sake, make all your friends and all your neighbors know there is a candidate named Danny Lim running for senator. For your and your children’s sake, make sure you answer when someone asks you, “Who’s afraid of Danny Lim?”
“Not me.”

Why I will vote for Noynoy- Winnie Monsod
Read on and be an informed voter.
WHY I WILL VOTE FOR NOYNOY - WINNIE MONSOD
Wed at 11:31pm
Villar still refuses to attend the Senate to face questions, and it only reminds me of how GMA used the privilege of her office to avoid questioning. What will happen if Villar wins and more corruption scandals surface?
With Villar catching up to Noynoy in the polls, I am honestly quite terrified of the prospect of him winning. There is a clear case of graft in this instance, and instead of delving into the issues, his allies in the legislative are simply brushing off the allegations as “politically motivated”. As a citizen, we should not accept this. If there is smoke, we must see if there is a fire that needs to be put out. Yes, the timing of the allegations seem a bit off. ( Joker Arroyo was pushing these issues as early as 1998). A known crook and political opportunist, Juan Ponce Enrile, is the person leading the censure. However, when the facts are presented, it is clear as day that something is amiss. It just further builds on my strong suspicions that Villar is a businessman simply looking to control the political arena to make a boat load of money.
I have never trusted Villar since day one. I never trust businessmen who enter politics, because in the end, their core value is and always will be profit maximization. It is well documented that Villar’s real estate empire ran into some serious financial problems when his overexposure to the real estate market and the Asian Financial Crisis made him unable to pay debts he took out to expand his real estate business in the early 1990s. After the Asian Crisis hit, Capitol Bank, owned by Villar and heavily exposed to his real estate investments was essentially ran to the ground and needed to be bailed out. In 2005, Villar tried to solve his debt problems by hiring a group of investment banks to advise him on how he can consolidate all his assets into one company ( Vista Land ). With the local and foreign investment bankers, Villar came up with a growth story for investors: “Invest in my company because we need it to fund all these wonderful project!”
However, what was downplayed during the IPO roadshow was that instead of financing growth, resources from the offering would be used to finance his debt. To appease creditors, Villar even had his investment bankers pitch some form of a debt-to-equity conversion that raised skeptical eyebrows of many. In 2007, the IPO of Vista Land did not do as well as planned, in part because many investors and brokers were the same people who were burned by Villar’s inability to pay back his loans.
Now, as part of a corporate growth (or should I say corporate restructuring) plan, Villar is lusting for the highest position in the land. This scares me because Villar already has a track record of using his political position to gain the upper hand for his businesses. To save his empire and increase shareholder value of his business, Villar used his influence as Senate Finance Chair to shrewdly derail a Cavite road project that was supposed to be BUILD, OPERATE, and TRANSFER. Villar built a longer and more expensive road, the C-5 extension, adjacent to it; subsequently forcing the private investor in the initial project to pull out. The fishy thing is that this new road, longer and more expensive than the previously planned project, passed through all of Villar’s land in Cavite . It is a clear case of graft, pointing to Villar use of influence and government funds to substantially improve the values of his real estate properties. To add insult to injury
the right of way the government would have to pay in order to complete the project was substantially higher for the land that Villar owned. These funds could have easily been used to build needed schools.
This scandal should be a red flag for all voters. However, the scary part is that Villar is spending billions to keep this out of the picture as he continues his attempt to brainwash our masses that he is their saviour. He convinces the masses that he is one of them. A poor boy from the slums of Tondo. In actuality, he is more like the 5-6 and syndicates, slum dwellers themselves who make a profit out of their poor brethren. Villar’s ad agencies are doing an excellent job of maintaining this image as well as doing damage control. TV and radio continues to churn out Parokya Ni Edgaresque jingles that compete with “Nobody, Nobody.” Dolphy is Villar’s new spokesperson and Wowowee is one giant ad for him. In this process of brainwashing, the masses are not cognizant of how Villar conducts business as a politician. What they do not see is a man hell bent on turning our archipelago into his own personal piece of real estate.
It is sad that the efforts of Juan Ponce Enrile, who is leading the censure for Villar, is actually giving Villar more sympathy votes. People do no trust Enrile, and when Enrile pounces on someone, it is usually met with a high degree of skepticism. I do not blame people for feeling this way. I also think Enrile is a crook who should be jailed for conspiring to implement Martial Law, for coup attempts, and for the human rights abuses during the Marcos regime. If someone with a more respectable reputation were to level these charges on Villar, I am sure the surveys would tell a different story.
I also fear from some credible reports that Malacanang has actually made a deal with Villar (under the table). Essentially, GMA’s goons said, “We will help you, in return, leave us alone when you win”. Villar’s behaviour in recent forums further adds credence to these reports as Villar has been very tame and quiet when it comes to how he will treat GMA after the elections. Appealing to common sense, it makes ALL THE SENSE for GMA to support someone who has a chance of winning, not a person rating at 4% in the surveys. GMA tried to reach out to Noynoy after Tita Cory died. All she got was rejection.
Who can stop Villar in his quest for the presidency?
I am known to be a Noynoy supporter, but to those skeptics and to those who are still undecided, I do concede that he is not perfect. His record as a politician is average and unspectacular at best. He does not have the charisma of his father. Before the death of his mother, he did not get much mileage. But I am going all out in support for Noynoy in 2010 because he stands for clean governance and appear willing to accomplish this. In addition, he has the best chance of preventing a opportunistic businessman, the assured next President of our country before Cory died, from using the Office of the President as a personal growth asset to his business empire.
Noynoy’s clean record is a big plus for me. It is a trait that I think should be the most important quality that we should look for in our next president. His appeal is that his track record is not tarnished by corruption scandals and his political debts are minimal. I know that many critics are trying to make an issue over his involvement in Hacienda Luisita, but Noynoy is not even heavily involved in the company. As a shareholder, Noynoy only owns .04% of Hacienda Luisita, a drop in the ocean and hardly in any position to do something about it. The case of the Hacienda does not have the substance that the C-5 extension controversy has a lot of.
In addition, Nonoy also has an incredible legacy to live up to. All the pressure is on him to be clean and stay clean. He can’t afford to tarnish the Aquino name and the immense legacy that his parents left behind. Cory and Ninoy practically sacrificed their family for their dream of a better Philippines . For Noynoy, to know that your father and mother went through so much hardship to improve our country is a heavy burden to think about if you do decide to become a crook and destroy everything that they fought for.
We all have to make a choice. In my opinion, it has to go to the presidentiable who has an independent mind, stands up for what he believes in, is clean, and has the legacy his parents to live up to and maintain. For me, Nonoy, with all his flaws, is that candidate. For what this country needs is a clean president who can set an example top-down for the entire state; it needs a president with the will to change things and stamp out corruption; it needs a President who can set an example and is willing to perfect our dysfunctional democracy.
I want someone who stands for being clean. He does not need a degree from Harvard. He does not need to have a multi-million peso business to show me he can make us all rich. He does not have to speak well. He just has to be clean. Nothing else should matter. He has to prioritize a platform of clean and effective governance and make sure that it delivers on that promise. Policies on the economy, education, energy, environment and health can all follow after the fundamentals are taken cared of. So far, the only candidate who promotes my vision with a clean record to back it up is Noynoy.
Our urban landscape is replete with political slogans that attempt to convince people of certain candidate’s ability to lead our nation
Galing at Talino? Sorry Gibo, those were the supposed qualities of GMA, rubber stamped with a Phd in Economics. And what happened? She only worsened our economy. To GMA’s credit she did balance our budget at one point, but it has again ballooned to the level where the next president will have to deal with the same economic issues she faced in 2005. During GMA’s watch investment in infrastructure was insufficient, poverty incidence worsened, public education deteriorated, our nautical highway is still incomplete, goons like the Ampatuan’s flourished in the south, and a culture of corruption flourished in our institutions. Instead of creating jobs, GMA focused on a policy of exporting labor without measuring the social costs of such a policy- thousands of broken OFW families and children of OFW’s who do not have the proper parental supervision to teach them the differences between right and wrong. In effect, our next generation is left on their own to
figure out how to become empowered patriots who love their country and will fight to defend it. In effect, whatever statistics in GDP growth GMA and her allies love to advertise, non of it trickled down and benefitted the poor..and none of it accounts for the social costs to her policies.
Good speaker? Sorry Gibo, Marcos had that quality and he did nothing good for our contry. In fact, Marcos squandered the opportunity to be our Lee Kuan Yew and Dr. Mahatir. If I want a good, charismatic, and eloquent speaker, let’s just run down the list of effective public speakers and vote them in.
Para sa mahirap? Sorry Erap, you had your chance and failed miserably. Your only accomplishment is in convincing our masses that movie roles do not carry over into the political area.
My only concern with Noynoy is how deep he might be in the Liberal Party and whether he has accumulate political debts to Liberal trapos. The Liberal PArty, like any party, has its own share of crooks (including those bandwagon trapos who jumped off GMA”s boat to ride on Aquino’s popularity). How much will Nonoy have to give back to the Liberal trapos (and bandwagon Liberals who jumped GMA’s ship) if elected? We will never know. However, I am willing to live with that unanswered question if it means preventing someone like Villar from turning the Philippines into Vista Land ‘s next subdivision development. I am also reassured by the fact that he has that “Aquino” name and the ghosts of his parents to answer to if does decide to go down the immoral path.
Nonoy will not solve all our problems. One person can’t. But we need a start somewhere and it should be with someone who pushes honesty, reform, and good governance. It will be a tough battle, but I want to give Noynoy the chance to build on what his mother tried to accomplish. And I hope that if Noynoy wins, he will have the courage to make tough decisions and go after crooks, even if it means hurting a lot of friends and colleagues in government.
To give you a better sense on how Villar conducts business, here is also a link to Joker Arroyo’s 1998 privilege speech:

I guess “if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and looks like a duck..” Well, as the saying goes……
Vote wisely Philippines . And continue to work towards uplifting the masses and freeing them from their state of hopelessness. Defend them from opportunists. DEVELOP THEM (FIRST) SPIRITUALLY AND BEHAVIORALLY; THEN ECONOMICALLY! When we lift up the poor and ween them off the mentality of hopelessness, our country will become first world. Only then will we have the powerful middle class that our young democracy is screaming for.

The Web and Campus Journalism.
The Web and Campus Journalism
(asiancorrespondent .com, Feb. 3, 2010, by Edwin Espejo)
I didn’t realize I was already 30 years detached from campus journalism until Smart Communications Philippines invited me to share my experience as a print journalist who transitioned to online journalism.
How time flied so fast and how technology made me feel locked in a time warp.
Yes. Three decades ago, we were literally counting spaces, characters and words on our ‘copies’ to make sure our page layouts will turn out fine.
There were only two fonts available on our typewriters: pica and elite.
We have to make a dummy on a newsprint impression of our school paper. Rush it to the printing press for encoding, proofreading and reviewing the layout in film before the stripper finalizes it for plate-making.
Not to mention advisers always on the lookout for articles that will undermine school authorities.
Then we have to wait for days until it is ready for distribution.
More often than not, it took weeks for us to come up with an issue.
Printing costs always took their toll on our ability to come up with regular issues. In most cases, school publications only come out twice a semester.
While issues on campus press freedom and student rights and welfare remain in many colleges and universities, campus journalism has been drastically changed by technology over the last two decades.
Standing in front of bright and promising campus writers last week, it made me old for a while. Even my reference as a Jurrasic in campus publication sound tame. Some students cannot even relate to it.
Why! I even made the big mistake of using Adobe Pagemaker as reference to lay-outing and publishing tool. And to think, it was the software Sun.Star Publications was using only three years ago – before I ‘retired’ from the now defunct Sun.Star Business Weekly (Socsksargen) .
I was told Adobe had already junked Pagemaker for a more user-friendly Adobe InDesign.
In today’s digital world, publishing news and other articles have become as handy as using your mobile phone – a techie gadget that we did not even dream of during our time.
Which brings me to the world of the Web and Internet.
I told the students that the days of newspapers could come to an end – like it or not and sooner or later. Paperless newspaper or paperless news is increasingly becoming a popular medium and source of information.
The rapid development of the Web also connects the reader in real time with the dawning of interactive press.
Honing your writing skills is no longer a tedious physical process of writing and rewriting your copies and manuscript by hand.
You now have the computers that will allow you to review your spelling and grammar, count the words for you and allow you choose the fonts and font sizes at the click of the mouse button.
In the real world, today’s writers have technology aiding them with their craft.
Smart’s move to encourage online journalism is one of the wisest decisions made by the telecommunication company to encourage campus writers to pursue a career in journalism – whether writing for a cause, writing for a product or simply discussing one’s views and opinions.
The Internet has emerged as a powerful communications tool.
Students could use the Web to reach out to their fellow students and even connect them virtually to every school publication anywhere in the world.
They could take cue on Facebook, Flixster, Twitter and other social networking sites which allow readers to post their comments and share their views in real time with less cost and better speed – or in other words – the fastest way possible.
No need to angle your stories and news to make it relevant with the passing of each publication date and worrying if these have become history.
And it saves your publication money that otherwise will go to printing costs.
Of course, these are still protocols and journalism ethics students have to observe and to follow.
Even without joining the mainstream media, the internet could become both a hobby and passion for student writers.
Blogging has become a popular activity in the internet.
Some have gone full time blogging - earning them income while doing what they are doing best. One blogger earns as much as P120,000 a month through Adsense.
If one gets lucky, a website could ‘buy’ and redirect your blog to its site for a fee.
The key is to be consistent, credible and committed to your craft as a blogger.
And as a blogger, you can be a better journalist.

Doodled. :)
***************************************************************
I was. She is.
Tell me if I’m just being praning or what. Past tenses suck. The -eds and all remind you of how stupid you are- or how stupid he is- for letting go and saying goodbye when you could have talked it out. It slaps you in the face bigtime that you are no longer part of that someone’s life.
You cannot text him anymore. No midnight phone calls. No one to say I love you to. Dinner dates and movie marathons are gone. Why? Because you (I) are/am just part of his once upon a time.
And while thinking that you had your time with him to say the least brings a little comfort, it brings you to pain.
Yes, there’ll always be a tinge of pain, regret and fear knowing that you cannot have him anymore.
************************************************************
Cheesy eh? I know. I had a good laugh reading it, really. It’s funny and awkward at the same time that I can laugh at this now when I thought the world stopped that time. I know you had your share of mush too, Everybody did. Share it with me, now! :D

Minsan may isang puta. Isang kwento.
May datung pa!
P*** ng I**!
Yung iba nag-US, Europe.
May nanghihinayang, namumuhi at naaawa.
Tama man o mali.
May malasakit man, nahihilaw.
Gusto kong isigaw: "INA NINYO AKO! MAHALIN NYO NAMAN AKO!" Sige, dumadrama na ako. Masisira na ang make up ko nito eh. Salamat ha, pinakinggan mo ako.
Ay sorry, di ko nasabi pangalan ko.
PILIPINAS nga pala.

Teen-ish. OMG. Die.
Okay. So I am reminded I was a teenager once and no matter what I say, there's no such thing as twenteen. haha. I've had my share of kabaduyan that well, sounds like a different posting, but I've always had great respect for the language and great belief in the power of words. Of course there came times of ribald and prate- and those were times not worth remembering, but Im lucky to have friends and people around me who are never abashed to embarass me every time. See, I told you I appreciate all of that. :)
